“If your house is on fire, the most urgent thing to do is to go back and try to put out the fire, not to run after the person you believe to be the arsonist. If you run after the person you suspect has burned your house, your house will burn down while you are chasing him or her. That is not wise. You must go back and put the fire out. So when you are angry, if you continue to interact with or argue with the other person, if you try to punish her, you are acting exactly like someone who runs after the arsonist while everything goes up in flames.” - Thich Nhat Hanh

I love that the Earth has given me a place to live
I love that nature provides without wanting
I love that my life can be used as an instrument of change
I love that the wind decides my next destination
I love this journey

Conquering the Internal Villain

So many mountains before me. Waiting in the distance to be conquered. Such excitement in my soul in anticipation of reaching the summit. After all, in the act of moving mountains one is able to see what we’re really made of.

However, along the path there are many wise trees that guide us with their wisdom and knowledge. We must listen and meditate on their whispers. In their silence, they teach us that once reaching the mountain, the skill is learning to be lead with our hearts rather than our head.

As we journey through the terrain and sit with the trees we also encounter the weeds. The weeds are the thorns in our lives that need to be tamed in order to move mountains with ease. To go with the flow.

The freshness of each new day reveals a new painting. That’s the beauty of life. Nature teaches us to be artists of life. Each day is an opportunity to invent our authentic selves. To honour our soul’s contract. To see ourselves as directors, writing the script in our own play.

In so doing, we choose which characters we want and those we don’t.

With this vision, the mountain doesn’t seem so big after all. In the end, we learn that in the process of reaching the mountain, life was preparing us for the obstacles ahead.

Divine Lights, Big City
It’s the middle of the night. You awaken. Something has forced you from your peaceful sleep. The energy intensifies while stumbling to the bathroom. Ahh, how nice it feels pouring hot water on your face. Suddenly, a rush of energy comes over you. Still unaware of what was the impetus to force you to rise, you slowly start to open your eyes. And there it is.
Wandering out of your bathroom and into your living room, you see it. You hear it. You feel it. With humility in your heart, you lower to the ground, and stare. How beautiful. Can you hear what he is saying? No. The faintness of the wind’s whisper requires a soul translation.
As the revelation becomes clear, tears roll down your eyes. Knowing that the morning’s dew allowed the first to be you. Or perhaps it’s just that you’re the only one that answered the call. So what was it?
It was the full moon. Before leaving it wanted to spend time with you. To tell you, that it loved you.

No matter how you look at it, the real dance of life is always a solo performance.

With this wisdom, let go of giving your power away to friends or partners or authority figures or conventional thinking.

Instead search your heart and soul and inner wisdom for what is true. And in that process you will empower yourself.
